What Is Bonzer Shack?
While the term “Bonzer” is Australian slang usually meaning most-excellent or outstanding, it is also known worldwide as a type of surfboard invented by the Campbell Brothers in 1970’s Southern California as a revolutionary five-fin surfboard that seems to float effortlessly on the wave.
Bonzer Shack in KDH was once known as MexiCali Brewz, until the owners renovated it in the winter of 2012. The Outer Banks Chamber of Commerce hosted the ribbon cutting ceremony in March of 2013, celebrating the opening of Bonzer Shack. There is a huge side yard, complete with corn hole boards, outside seating, and enough room for late-night music. Bonzer Shack is steps away from the beach, so when you walk in to the restaurant, you will see a themed décor, with surfboards, shaping tools, lighthouses, and all things coastal. The Bonzer Shack has regular lunch and dinner menus, including burgers, salads and fresh seafood, and runs seasonal special menus during the off-season. It is a well known local and visitor hot spot, located at Milepost 9, right next to the beach road, 1200 South Virginia Dare Trail, Kill Devil Hills, NC 27948; 252-480-1010.
Web Presence Goals
Bonzer Shack had no online web presence, and the owners were looking for a branded, custom website that conveyed their restaurant and bar’s feel of a casual, surf-shack centered scene. The bar frequently hosts live music and streams international surfing competitions as well as sponsors local surfing competitions and events. Bonzer Shack wanted a workable layout for the web, a responsive design for the compatibility of the other devices that their clientele may be using, and business branding that combined their unique logo and OBXM’s customized webpage layout into a recognizable business with an online presence.
Outer Banks Media set up a website that illustrates the vibe of Bonzer Shack, while keeping customers, locally and seasonally, in the loop with the nightly musical acts, community happenings, and special events.
Using a simple easily updated interface, OBXM set up the Bonzer Shack menus so that the potential or returning customer can easily read and understand the dining options offered regularly.
